February 2004 Quaterly Report
This report summarise the months from December 2005 to February 2005.
For the WI-1, Requirements, the questionnaires answers have been processed and analysed. JRA1 has produced the Requirement Report deliverable (DJ1.1.1 – December 2004) which summarised the main requirements of various groups of monitoring information users. Those requirements have been used to identify the first set of tools that we would be working on (MJ1.2.1). This work was jointly done with SA3.
The WI-2 work on the General Framework Design (GFD) has been going on full steam in collaboration with Internet2. The services offered have been identified based on the outcome of the Requirement Report. A distinction between the basic services, the basic services needed for the GFD to work, and the additional services has been made. The additional services are the ones which can bring additional capabilities to framework, but which are not mandatory. The communication between the flows has also been defined. This work will lead to the DJ1.2.1 General Framework Design deliverable and to a prototype implementation of the main services for July 2005. A metric definitions document has been started. This should be the base for a common understanding on what the metrics we can work on are and the methodology to retrieve the monitoring information.
WI-4 has progressed in gathering the information necessary to install monitoring tools for the trials. The localisation of the tools, the type of hardware needed have been mostly identified. Quotes have been asked for the equipment. The tools will be used to test the integration of the tools within an implementation of the GFD as well as to provide a platform for user to evaluate the tools, which should provide us useful feedback for future enhancements.
