The developers’ work, during October, was very much oriented towards producing a release and producing for this ANT scripts to ease the installation, refining the documentation and the release process. Those tasks are mostly performed under SA3-WI15. This implies that little new functionality have been added within the perfSONAR main services.

Services

An additional Measurement Archives instance has been deployed by GARR to provide link capacity and utilisation. A total of fifteen Measurement Archives have been deployed, amongst them, ten by European NRENs (Installed MA list).

The capability of running multiple services under a single Tomcat instance has been implemented within the perfSONAR base (used by multiple services). A script to convert MRTG configuration file into RRD MA configuration file has been made available. Those two points will ease the installation and configuration processes.

The functional test team (SA3 WI-15) has progressed into building scripts to test the LS and the RRD MA. Several issues has been found and have been fixed by JRA1.

A summary of the RRD MA deployment experience has been compiled. It appears that the service deployment under different type of platform is currently quite difficult. The issues encountered will be addressed in the next service release. A server will be bought to host virtual server on it so that the installation process can be tested against multiple version of OSes.

Collaborations

A perfSONAR meeting (3 days) was help in Montpelier, with the participation of Internet2, ESnet, RNP and SLAC. It was followed by a JRA1 activity meeting (2 days).

PerfSONAR was presented during a DFN Betriebstagung (meeting for DFN member institutions network engineers). The presentation was followed by an visualisation tools utilisation hands on session. The hands on was attended by 45 people. Feedback on the utilisation of the tools was gathered.
