The work was mostly turned on installation scripts and testing (SA3 WI-15) and on bug fixing and documenting (JRA1) for the next perfSONAR release v2.0. This release will be made available in March and will contain a Lookup service, the RRD MA, the SQL MA, the BWCTL MP, the telnet/SSH MP and the Command Line MP. Most of those web-services will be deployed and used as part of the Multi-Domain Monitoring Pilot.
Services
An echo message has been integrated in the perfSONAR base. This allows a client to “ping” a web-service and verify if it is alive. This functionality will be particularly helpful when operating the Multi-Domain Monitoring service described in DJ1.0.1.
Measurement tools
The netflow RRD MA has been extended so that it can cover more metrics. It can now provide information about packets, bytes and flows for tcp, udp, icmp, etc. Metric Composition Framework The work on L1 and L2 has progressed and a list of metric per technology has been identified.
Collaborations
A paper on “Point-to-Point Services in Hybrid Networks: Technologies and Performance Metrics” was submitted at the International Conference on Networking and Services conference and an abstract on perfSONAR has been sent to the “Journées Réseau”, the French academic Networking Days.
Investigation about the use of the Lookup service by SA3 AMPS is undertaken.
Five NRENs and GEANT2 will take part to the Multi-Domain Monitoring Pilot: FCCN, GARR, Hungarnet PSNC and SWITCH. The equipment needs have been identified and a timeline on the deployment of the services has been provided. Work on the service support for the MDM pilot has started. The service support will follow ITIL best practices.
