Network Characteristics

From GEANT2-JRA1 Wiki

The GGF NM-WG draft “A Hierarchy of Network Performance Characteristics for Grid Applications and Services”. The network Characteristics are the intrinsic properties of a portion of the network that are related to the performance and reliability of the network. More specifically, a characteristic is a primary property of the network, or of the traffic on it. A characteristic is the property itself, not an observation of that characteristic. An example characteristic is hop capacity. A network characteristics is very similar meaning than the IETF IPPM metric (Metric).
