Best Testing guidelines
- General rule is that you should be able to install and configure the software using the given document. If you are unable to do so, you should send us an email to let us know (instead of trying to fix it yourself). If you can suggest a fix, that would of course be most welcome. That way, we can ensure that the fix is made in the software and similar issues are not encountered.
- A document that explains the steps to be taken and the checks to be made is available along with a feedback questionnaire (Testing.doc) here: http://anonsvn.internet2.edu/svn/perfsonar/trunk/perfsonar-doc/release-management/
- We like to know how much time you spent doing various tasks. The questionnaire provides some guidelines. Please keep track of the time you spend on installation.
- Testing time estimates (note that these might vary depending on your skill levels and any challenges you may encounter)
- Preparing the system, Installation of basic dependencies like Java and rrd tool - 1 hour
- Note: We provide a test server with everything setup. This should reduce your effort. Let us know if you want to use it.
- Going through the documentation to familiarize yourself - 30 minutes
- Installing and configuring dependencies like tomcat, exist, etc - (15 minutes)
- Installing and configuring one application (one service, for ex: RRD MA) - 15 minutes
- Preparing the system, Installation of basic dependencies like Java and rrd tool - 1 hour
