  • An important note for highspeedconferencing is that everybody has to be muted and should un-mute only when talking. Otherwise the quality is quite bad.

Minutes

  1. Chase-up of actions
    1. RL to merge ant targets branch with current and help developers adapt to it - DONE
    2. LK to make All templates and sample documents available to the list by 8/12 - DONE
    3. LK to discuss with NS on final decision on Multi-LS in upcoming release - ON-GOING- Phone call today or tomorrow with NS, ST and MG to decide on this.
    4. Matthias and Mark to provide a date for hand over in the next call after reading through hand over document, templates and samples - DONE Provided date is mid jan for docs and end of jan for software
  2. Current Status
    1. Comments on Release Management Handover Document (from JRA4) - doc ok, all parts are ok and can be met during hand over
    2. Ant Targets - Java services developers having problems adapting ant target installation scripts to new installation steps? - RL - RL mentioned that no serious problems were reported to him, but he thinks this might be because developers did not yet update their ant scripts. Stijn is in the process of updating his ant targets, hopes to give feedback tomorrow.
    3. Ant Targets - User installing only Perl services needs to install Java and Ant? - MG - All agree that its not good to expect Ant and Java installation by user when they only want to install perl services. Two options are currently being investigated - Approach 1 is to use perl installation scripts for the envelope instead of Ant+Antelope. Approach 2 is to use perl along with Ant+Antelope for envelope. In approach 2, perl will be used only to install perl services while ant can be used to install all services include perl and java. ACTION: Decision on the approach to be taken by next week's call
    4. Installation of perfSONAR-1.1 bundle - pre-defined directory structure, or user choice? Duplication of libraries? - RL, LK - It was agreed that the bundle will have a simple script which will download each service tar file as required by the user. Extraction will take place within the same directory by default but the user will be prompted to choose a different location.
  3. Developer Status update
    1. Stijn - Yes, on track for 15/12 pending ant targets integration. Might be delayed if ant targets disrupt the work.
    2. Verena - Yes for 15/12
    3. RRD MA - RRD MA - yes for 15/12, SQL MA - Service by end of 1st week, docs by 3rd week of January
    4. Maciej - Single LS - Yes for 15/12, Can't say anything about Multi-LS
    5. Guilherme - CLI MP - Yes for 15/12 but might go into beginning of next week
    6. Matthias and Mark - Not until end of January ACTION: Matthias and Mark to send request accepted by the e2emon MP to the pS mailing list.
  4. Functional testing of services other than RRD MA and LS
    1. E2EMON MP - ACTION: M&M to send us request messages accepted by the E2EMON MP
  5. Next Call
    1. 19th December 14:30 hrs
  6. AOB
    1. Guilherme - While writing up rncs Guilherme wasn't sure if he should include parts of the message that are inherent to all services but don't quite invoke any action or proper response. For ex: All java responses can accept request messages that can be sent to any java service but they can only process a subset of these request messages. This is the manner in which perfSONAR base and NMWG Message object is designed. Guilherme was wondering if for example, chaining which is accepted by his service but not processed should be put in the rnc for his service. LK mentioned that the schemas should be seen as something very specific to the service itself. The audience for these schemas will be the developers interested in developing analysis tools for these services or interested in functional testing of these services. Hence, features which are designed and implemented in each service should be specified in the rncs. Features which are accepted but not supported should not be included in the rnc. All agree.
    2. Loukik - LK was wondering if the ant targets written for one service depend on ant targets written for another service. This was the case with the ant targets previously. All the targets of all the services required to be present for each service. RL assured that this isn't the case although there are common targets that all developers can make use of.
    3. Szymon Trocha - ST mentioned couple of points about the Release Management for 1.1 wiki page (http://wiki.perfsonar.net/jra1-wiki/index.php/Release_Management-perfSONAR-1.1). He mentioned that the sample documents are missing from the page, that the author of functional and interface specs wasn't Martin anymore and should be changed to reflect the current authors and that the documents should be uploaded onto the SVN and be referenced here. ACTION: LK to work on all these points
